Review: Shiseido Bioperformance Glow Revival Serum

shiseido

What is it?

This serum is said to revive and energize the skin, restoring its glow and giving it new life. Like a defibrillator to the heart, but for the skin. For the past three months, the Shiseido Bio-Performance Glow Revival Serum has been a part of my skincare routine. Is it worth incorporating into yours?

What does it do?

Inspired by advanced regenerative science, Shiseido’s skincare research narrowed in on the glow-creating potential within skin’s capillaries, where the body’s circulatory system meets the skin’s surface. Connected in a fine network, capillaries transport vital nutrients and oxygen to every part of the skin, providing the reach and power to ultimately improve skin overall, beyond merely addressing individual skin concerns. Capillaries have the potential to regenerate the skin itself, reviving a natural glow from within.

What is in it?

TXG Complex – formula composed of Tea Tree, Liquorice Root and Xylitol that prevents the abnormal growth of capillaries to improve redness and prevent formation of wrinkles.

Vitamin C Extract – decreases excess melanin and reduces surface discoloration.

Glycylglycine – suppresses inflammation and improves the look of pores.

Hawthorne Extract and Rice Bran Protein – supports circulation and enhances skin clarity”

The Packaging

You get 30ml/1 fl. oz. of Shiseido’s Bio-Performance Glow Revival Serum in an extremely futuristic (and cool) looking silver chrome bottle. The container looks quite pretty on top of my vanity and the reflective property goes well with the radiant concept. The twisted capsule design of the bottle is surprisingly kind of ergonomic. When you grip the bottle, your thumb and fingers lie in the twisted edges. The product is cleanly dispensed via a pump.

The Opinion

Pearly, milky white. The silica in the serum leaves a subtle shimmery sheen to the skin for an immediate glowing skin effect. Texture-wise, it is smooth and lightweight. It takes seconds to completely absorb into my skin and leaves me with no sticky residue.

A pleasantly light, fresh citrus-y floral scent. For me, it has an energising effect that helps wake me up. I’ve found that my skin does appear more radiant, vibrant and less dull, giving that ‘lit from within’ look that most of us strive for.

You do not need very much of the product to cover the whole face, half a pump should suffice for those with a normal sized head.  I use this in the morning only and forgo the moisturiser. My skin can get super greasy during the Dubai heat, so I don’t feel like I need more moisture than this serum gives. My skin feels hydrated, soft and radiant. Makeup goes on like a dream!

Who is it for?

For those of you who are looking for a general skin pick-me-up, this product is for you.  Any age would see more radiance in the skin, and the product claims to also reduce wrinkles.

Would I recommend it?

If you feel like you need a helping hand in the ‘glow’ department, yes! This serum will help to brighten the dullest of complexions!

You can get this at any Shiseido counter for 478 AED
