Review: Vitrine Designs – I am obsessed!

Here’s the thing, when you’re not really into something, it takes something pretty special to grab your attention. That was me and jewellery. I’ve never really been into it. I could appreciate a pretty piece, sure, but for me to actually wear it… Meh.

But then, I stumbled across Vitrine Designs. Instantly, I was hooked. It was love at first sight. And second, and third. I browsed the website over and over; in awe of the intricate details and breath-taking colours. That was it, on my wish list 7 items immediately went!!

A Canadian company, each piece of jewellery is hand crafted using only very best gemstones, crystal, golds and silver. The result is a timeless piece of jewellery that is made just for you that nobody else on the planet has – cool or what!!?

Psst – *A Vitrine Designs necklace was written into the storyline on The Vampire Diaries Season 6 (seen on Sarah Salvatore E611, E613, E615! Also spotted on OK! TV USA, the Wendy Williams Show, Cedar Cove, Hollywood Today Live, Law& Order SVU, Young & the Restless and the Vampire Diaries Season 5. Also gifted SELENA GOMEZ, Holly Robinson Peete, Stephanie Drapeau and other celebs at the Golden Globes, New York Fashion Week and the PrimeTime Emmys*

Today, I want to show you the Druzy Rose Gold Bar Necklace. I have worn this at least 12 days out of 14 and every single day, someone has complemented it! It amazes me how something can be so small and delicate, yet such an eye-catching statement at the same time – credit to the designer! Upon inspection I can’t help but notice how perfectly made the necklace is. It is flawless, really.

The chain sits perfectly, not too long or short – just elegantly and beautiful. Any outfit looks marvellous with the Rose Gold Druzy added to it. Instantly pulling your outfit together and polishing it off nicely.

For such a ‘non jewellery wearer’, it is incredible that I am reaching for this on a daily basis! I honestly don’t even realise it is there until someone makes a comment about how pretty it is. Light and delicate with a stunning simplicity, it is genuinely the perfect piece of jewellery for me. I don’t believe I could find anything that suits me, my style and have the flawless quality that Vitrine Designs does, again. I have no doubt you will be spotting me wearing numerous pieces from them, I am simply obsessed.

I can’t express how much I recommend you check out the full collection from Vitrine Designs on Etsy!

Enjoy browsing!!

Review: Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm and Elixr

Now one thing you probably know about me, I love an at home spa sesh! Most friends that visit see me pottering around in a facemask / hair mask of some sort. Most family skype conversations involve me looking like something straight out of ‘Wicked’! My love for Neal’s Yard Remedies is helped by the fact that they genuinely do have some of the best products on the market for helping me get my spa on at home!

Today I am going to review a couple of their all-time hero products that leave me with skin that looks and feels like I have just had a spa facial!

Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm

What is it?

One of NYR’s most popular products, which has won a multitude of awards comes in its famous beautiful royal blue glass jar containing the balm as well as an unbleached, organic muslin cloth made from organically grown cotton, which is exceptionally soft and silky.

It is absolutely jam packed with natural ingredients including; Wild Rose, Jojoba, Beeswax, Shea Butter, Hemp, Starflower, Geranium, Rosemary, Frankincense, Palmarosa and Patchouli which is incredibly impressive. The Wild Rose Beauty Balm is made from 99% organic ingredients, and contains no mineral oils, parabens, silicones or synthetic colours or fragrances. This product is full of natural, organic ingredients giving your skin the very best it deserves.

What do you do with it?

What’s amazing about the Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm, is that it can be used in many different ways.

  1. Cleanser: Massage a small amount onto the face, and remove with the muslin cloth rinsed in warm water.
  2. Moisturiser: After cleansing and toning, apply a small amount to the face, giving a facial massage with an upward motion.
  3. Mask: After thoroughly cleansing and exfoliating, apply the balm over the face. Cover the face with a warm washcloth, and relax for 10 minutes. Remove any remaining traces of balm with the muslin cloth, and apply your usual moisturiser.
  4. Lip Balm: Apply a small amount to the lips to prevent dryness and chapping. Can be used over lipstick to add extra shine.
  5. Make-Up Primer: After cleansing and toning, apply a small amount to the cheekbones and other areas of the face prior to applying your foundation for a healthy glow.
  6. Nail Balm: Massage a small amount of the balm into the cuticles every night to encourage strong nail growth.
  7. Heel Softener: After washing and exfoliating the feet, massage some balm in to the heels.
  8. Flight Repair: During a flight, wear Wild Rose Beauty Balm as your moisturiser to lock in moisture and nourish the skin so you arrive with a fresh glowing complexion.
  9. Eyebrow Tamer: After shaping the eyebrows, apply a small amount of balm to smooth and control.
  10. Sunburn Relief: After sun exposure have a warm shower or bath then apply a little Wild Rose Beauty Balm to the sun exposed areas and the rosehip will help repair damage collagen. It also gives the skin aglow of radiance.

What do I think of it?

I love how weighty the jar feels, it just feels so luxurious and decadent. The initial waxy like texture of this balm soon changes to an oil when heated with your body temperature. This makes massaging it into your skin a dream. You can give a brilliant facial massage with this stuff, seriously!

My dehydrated yet oily skin fairs well with this balm, helping to rebalance the oil and give a boost of moisture that my skin desperately needs. I love how it is washed away leaving no residue, meaning it does not block pores or cause any congestion. My skin has been clear, smooth, plumped up and glowing since using this balm – and it’s pretty impressive that one little pot could do all this.

The beauty of this balm is that it can be used on ALL skin types too.

Is this worth the money?

Absolutely. YES. This has a firm place in my stash and I won’t ever be without one. I even have some decanted into a small pot for my handbag!!!

Pick one up from Neal’s Yard Remedies – you won’t be disappointed!

Wild Rose Beauty Elixir

What is it?

A luxurious treatment serum, Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Elixir contains Rosehip Oil – one of nature’s richest sources of Vitamin C, to help repair skin and promote a healthier looking, smoother skin. Hyaluronic Acid has been included for its wondrous moisture retention properties and a combination of pure essential oils of Frankincense and Geranium and Turmeric for truly radiant skin. Benefits:

  • Intensely nourishing
  • Leaves skin radiant with a healthy-looking glow
  • Easily absorbed, silky-smooth texture

What do you do with it?

Use morning and evening after toning on damp skin, for radiantly glowing skin.

Apply half a pump of the elixir with fingertips, gently smoothing onto the skin with a light, upwards, circular motion, avoiding the delicate eye area.

What do I think of it?

This silky smooth serum has a gorgeous, very delicate rose scent and is designed to be used after cleansing and toning while the skin is still slightly damp – this helps to ‘lock in’ moisture, leaving skin beautifully plumped and hydrated. My skin looks vibrant, bright and satin smooth with less dark tones since using this magical serum; it now has a lovely healthy looking glow and is not so tired or congested looking. I am in love. My other half steals it, it’s that good!

Is it worth the money?

I think a bottle of this really will go a long way, providing my darling bf keeps his mitts off… Yes, I would definitely continue to repurchase this serum!

**You can pick both of these items up for only 365 AED at the moment!!!**

Love, Kel x

Review: Chantecaille Just Skin Skin Anti-Smog Tinted Moisturiser

What is it?

Just Skin is a lightweight tinted moisturiser with built in non-toxic mineral sunscreen (SPF15) and a new complex of botanicals that delivers protection from free radicals, smog and sun. Designed for women and men, this unique skin perfecter provides excellent coverage, smoothes fine lines, protects and enhances the complexion. Just Skin’s anti-irritant, antioxidant and anti-pollution botanical extracts include honeysuckle, edelweiss and green tea. Sodium hyaluronate helps to seal in skin’s moisture. The result is a clean and natural finish.

Extra Benefits

Anti-irritant, antioxidant and anti-pollution botanical extracts, including Honeysuckle and Green Tea, create a powerful base enhanced by titanium dioxide, a mineral UVB that provides natural sun protection.

Sodium hyaluronate helps to seal in skin’s moisture.

What do I think about it?

Living in such a hot and humid climate, the ‘tinted moisturiser thang’ took a bit of getting used to for me. Getting passed the matte faced look and finally embracing the glow, I slowly began to love the dewiness that Just Skin gave. I started wearing this on weekends for a relaxed makeup look. Not long after, I decided it was time to brave it for work, and I loved it!

On the tinted moisturiser scale the Chantecaille Just Skin sits just below that of a light coverage foundation. It has all the nourishing qualities and radiance boosting finish of a tinted moisturiser, but it’s slightly thicker texture and pigmented finish leave the skin looking a little more polished than usual. I find that a pea-sized amount blended all over the face with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush is the perfect amount for an everyday face. For a little less coverage it works nicely massaged into the skin with clean fingers. The finish it leaves on the skin is simply gorgeous – that’s where it shows its worth – a glowy, skin-like, evened-out complexion. In the photo below I’m wearing no other base makeup.

I felt that at around lunch time, a dusting of powder would rid me of the glow that was tipping me over the line from ‘healthy and dewy’ to ‘greasy and gross’. This is perfect for good skin days when only a little coverage is required! There is no oxidisation with this which is a huge bonus for me, I do hate getting home looking two shades darker than when I left the house!! I even popped some on my lovely other half at a recent wedding and he looked gorgeous and healthy on the pictures!

Is it worth the cash (55GBP / Approx 312 AED)?

It is on the expensive side of tinted moisturisers, but in my opinion, the technology behind this and the skincare benefits included makes it oh so worth it!! I do use it sparingly though!

Love, Kel x

Review: Shiseido Bioperformance Glow Revival Serum

What is it?

This serum is said to revive and energize the skin, restoring its glow and giving it new life. Like a defibrillator to the heart, but for the skin. For the past three months, the Shiseido Bio-Performance Glow Revival Serum has been a part of my skincare routine. Is it worth incorporating into yours?

What does it do?

Inspired by advanced regenerative science, Shiseido’s skincare research narrowed in on the glow-creating potential within skin’s capillaries, where the body’s circulatory system meets the skin’s surface. Connected in a fine network, capillaries transport vital nutrients and oxygen to every part of the skin, providing the reach and power to ultimately improve skin overall, beyond merely addressing individual skin concerns. Capillaries have the potential to regenerate the skin itself, reviving a natural glow from within.

What is in it?

TXG Complex – formula composed of Tea Tree, Liquorice Root and Xylitol that prevents the abnormal growth of capillaries to improve redness and prevent formation of wrinkles.

Vitamin C Extract – decreases excess melanin and reduces surface discoloration.

Glycylglycine – suppresses inflammation and improves the look of pores.

Hawthorne Extract and Rice Bran Protein – supports circulation and enhances skin clarity”

The Packaging

You get 30ml/1 fl. oz. of Shiseido’s Bio-Performance Glow Revival Serum in an extremely futuristic (and cool) looking silver chrome bottle. The container looks quite pretty on top of my vanity and the reflective property goes well with the radiant concept. The twisted capsule design of the bottle is surprisingly kind of ergonomic. When you grip the bottle, your thumb and fingers lie in the twisted edges. The product is cleanly dispensed via a pump.

The Opinion

Pearly, milky white. The silica in the serum leaves a subtle shimmery sheen to the skin for an immediate glowing skin effect. Texture-wise, it is smooth and lightweight. It takes seconds to completely absorb into my skin and leaves me with no sticky residue.

A pleasantly light, fresh citrus-y floral scent. For me, it has an energising effect that helps wake me up. I’ve found that my skin does appear more radiant, vibrant and less dull, giving that ‘lit from within’ look that most of us strive for.

You do not need very much of the product to cover the whole face, half a pump should suffice for those with a normal sized head.  I use this in the morning only and forgo the moisturiser. My skin can get super greasy during the Dubai heat, so I don’t feel like I need more moisture than this serum gives. My skin feels hydrated, soft and radiant. Makeup goes on like a dream!

Who is it for?

For those of you who are looking for a general skin pick-me-up, this product is for you.  Any age would see more radiance in the skin, and the product claims to also reduce wrinkles.

Would I recommend it?

If you feel like you need a helping hand in the ‘glow’ department, yes! This serum will help to brighten the dullest of complexions!

You can get this at any Shiseido counter for 478 AED

A Special Eid Gift Guide

Living in Dubai has allowed me a glimpse into the Middle Eastern culture. One tradition that I genuinely love is Eid.

Eid is a time of celebration. It is a time for getting together with your family and friends and sharing the joys of togetherness and giving. Celebrations often always warrant you to spend time on preparing yourselves. This preparation can be buying new clothes, indulging in new shoes or even adopting a new skincare regimen to look as radiant as the moon that marks the Eid celebration.

Choosing Eid gifts for the cool people you love is hard… WRONG. It’s actually super easy! Just buy them a new Aston Martin, dumdum! If you can’t find one of those in time, then I have some tips to help you until you can be a better and more generous friend.

Skin Care

Given that I am beauty obsessed, it was inevitable that this would have a mention. Skincare makes a wonderful gift for any man or woman!

At the moment, Neals Yard Remedies have an amazing Eid offer on their gift bundles. A massive 40% off!!!

Each kit is specific for a particular concern, be it anti ageing or rejuvenating and are a mixture of face and body products. Packaged up beautifully with their signature products included, these kits make a lovely gift!

Now it is no secret that I am a loyal fan of theirs, you will spot me in their Dubai Mall store picking up a few of these!!!!

Who doesn’t love jewellery? I don’t know any woman that isn’t happy opening up a little box with something beautiful inside.

My latest find is Vitrine Designs. I argued with myself for quite some time whilst debating if I should share this secret or keep it to myself. In the spirit of Eid, I decided to share this wondrous find. I adore their designs. Truly. Exquisite simplicity that will look stunning on any woman.

Have a peek of their full collection here:

For something a little different, I love this. Christofle has a new addition to their beautiful range. The new Egg from Mood. A modern kick to a classic must have. This decorative piece with a compact, ovoid shape is a streamlined, contemporary and universal statement in a silver plated service for six.

This can be picked up from their boutique  in Dubai Mall for 4160 AED 🙂

Whether or not you celebrate Eid, I hope you have a wonderful time enjoying the festive and happy period!

Next up, Halloween! And then it is Christmas, you can certainly expect more gift giving ideas from me 🙂

It’s Autumn! My go-to Autumn plummy look

As soon as we cross the line from Summer to Autumn, my dark lippy’s come out to play. Despite it feeling nothing like autumn yet in Dubai, my heart pines a little when I see instagram pictures of scarf and boot wearing, candle burning, plum lip goodness. So this is my way of getting in the spirit of things!

IMG_20150910_085118 IMG_20150910_085143

What did I use?

  • A simple and fresh base using NARS Sheer Glow, and setting it in place with Chanel Vitalumiere loose powder.
  • A dusting of a natural blush from Chanel in shade Innocence over the cheeks.
  • A swipe of MAC woodwinked shadow over the eyelid and softly blended in to the crease.
  • A smudging of MAC Carbon eyeshadow on an angled brush used as an eyeliner on top and bottom lashes.
  • Black kohl used on my tight line and water line.
  • Givenchy Noir Couture mascara brushed over the lashes.
  • Chantecaille Waterproof Brow Definer in Oak Brown flicked lightly through the brow.
  • And the main focus, MAC Cyber taken over the lip!

I would love to know your go-to Autumn look!!

Love, Kel x

Review: Alpha H Skin Loving Vitamin Kit

What is it?

Uniting three of Alpha-H’s most intensive topical vitamin serums, Skin Loving Vitamins Kit has been specially developed to re-hydrate, rejuvenate and revitalise the fabric of your skin. With high concentrations of Vitamins A, C and E, these powerful antioxidant formulas help minimise the appearance of wrinkles, sun damage and scarring whilst bringing renewed vitality and radiance to any complexion that’s looking a little lack-lustre. Used daily alongside your usual skin care ritual, these help fortify skin at a deeper level so it’s better equipped to repair and protect itself from the ageing effects of environmental aggressors.

This set contains:

  • Vitamin A (15ml)
  • Vitamin C (15ml)
  • Vitamin E (15ml)

  • Renews skin cells and hydrates the skin surface
  • Reduces lines, wrinkles and discolouration
  • Minimises inflammation and aids in skin’s healing process
  • Boosts the skin’s immune system

What do I do with it?

• Each night after cleansing I blend 3-4 drops of the Vitamin A serum over the face, neck and décolletage. Allowing the serum to absorb into the skin for a few minutes before applying my night cream.

• Each morning, after cleansing I blend 3-4 drops of Vitamin C serum over the face, neck and décolletage. Allowing the serum to absorb before applying the next step in my skincare routine.

• I apply the Vitamin E serum day or night, as required – to any parched, inflamed or irritated areas. It can be applied over the Vitamin A or Vitamin C serums. Dab a small amount onto any post-blemish scars to accelerate the healing process. Vitamin E can also be blended into any moisturiser or night cream to boost its antioxidant and rehydrating properties. Simply use your fingertips to blend 3-4 drops into your preferred product before massaging it over the face, neck and décolletage.

What do I think of it?

I have written about my love for the Alpha H Vitamin C serum in the past. Because I loved that so much I was really excited to give the full range a try once reordering the Vit C. My complexion has such a healthy glow after using these. No sticky residue, instantly absorbing into the skin, they are a breeze to use. A multivitamin specifically designed to use on the face allows the full potency of the vitamin to work its magic. And boy, does your skin reap the benefit. Especially given the amount of sun we get here in Dubai, anything that can help me fight sun damage and premature ageing is welcomed in my skincare routine!

Who is it for?

Perfect for those with: dull, tired, ageing, damaged and acne-scarred.

I picked mine up from for (210AED) but this is also available on (47GBP) – both offer international and super speedy delivery!

Love, Kel x

Quick Review: MAC Wood Winked Eye Shadow and Syrup Lipstick

Screenshot 2015-09-01 09.19.51

MAC Wood Winked Eye Shadow

What is it?

A spectacular golden bronze coloured eye shadow. Highly-pigmented powder. Applies evenly, blends well.

What do I think of it?

One of the things I love about this shadow is how it blends so beautifully leaving a much deeper colour than if it were just patted onto the eyelid. I like to wear this blended through my crease whilst patting it onto my mobile lid. This gives the effect of two shadows being used. Perfect for those days when you are in a hurry or travelling. Once the shadow has been blended it looks coppery and slightly darker compared to where I have simply patted it on my lid using a shadow brush.

The colour is so pretty – shimmery and with lovely warm tones. It blends beautifully and leaves me with no fall down. When I wear this I look bright eyed, even if I don’t feel it!

Screenshot 2015-09-08 14.10.40

Screenshot 2015-09-08 14.09.26

MAC Syrup Lipstick

What is it?

A muted cloudy pink lipstick with a lustre finish that is very wearable. Subtle plumb and berry hints mean that this gives a ‘your lips but better’ effect.

What do I think of it?

Syrup is a lustre finish which means that it applies quite sheer on the lips, although the colour is easily built up with another layer or two. The lustre formula also means that the lipstick leaves a slightly glossy finish, and the added moisture is great as it doesn’t dry out the lips – making Syrup very comfortable to wear!

I have been reaching for this lippy on a daily basis since its purchase back in June. Already I am 2/3 down – I really do need to purchase another. It is a beautiful colour with a lovely texture. Perfect for day or night.

Screenshot 2015-09-08 14.08.55

Both products come highly recommended from me and are firm staples in my makeup bag!!

Review: Tata Harper Replenishing Nutrient Complex

What is it and what does it do?

This lightweight facial oil serum improves the skin’s natural glow, texture and hydration. A weightless blend of biocompatible micronutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals provides your daily dose of environmental protection while delivering visibly balanced, healthy skin. Helps relieve and stabilise vulnerable, irritated and chapped skin for a radiant complexion.

  • Arnica promotes balance by diminishing inflammation and redness
  • Alfalfa oxygenates the skin and helps nourish with Vitamins A, B, C, D, E
  • Jojoba deeply moisturises and helps softens the skin’s texture
  • Rose Geranium improves appearance of skin tone

What do I do with it?

This is your last anti aging step and works best if used daily. Roll a thin layer around your entire face and neck for glow, hydration, and environmental protection. Spread it by lightly massaging in circular motions.

What do I think of it?

This is a multivitamin for the face, packaged up nicely in this convenient roll on. You can use this either before you go in the morning or to repair chapped, stressed skin when you come in from the elements. It will help to stabilise, soothe, soften and used under moisturiser gives any skin a beautiful glow.

The rollerball cleverly dispenses just enough product to ensure that not too much is used, but enough comes out to do the job. It isn’t thick, heavy or greasy.

I choose to use this every evening, as soon as I am in for the night. I do my full skincare routine and follow up with this. Then just before I head to bed, if my skin needs that little extra help, I add a little more to the areas required!

I love this product and would hate to be without it now. It isn’t easy to get hold of and I ship mine in through CultBeauty, which isn’t too much of an issue – such great delivery! The next order I make will need to be for a couple of these I think, you know… so I always have a backup!

Replenishing Nutrient Complex 005

Who is this good for?

Anyone – pretty much. This is a gem if your skin is dehydrated, and I am yet to meet someone who doesn’t have dehydrated skin. Even the oiliest skin is dehydrated. In short, we could all use a bit of this roll on magic!

Is it worth the money (36 GBP)

Yes, absolutely, yes. It lasts such a long time, after using mine now for 3 months there is barely any movement. One bottle of this stuff will last me around 9 months ! Pick one up from for international speedy shipping!

Review: Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara and Le Rouge Lipstick

Screenshot 2015-09-01 09.16.37

Givenchy Noir Couture 4 in 1 Mascara

What is it?

A four-in-one mascara that creates intense volume, strong curl, infinite length, and complete lash care.

What it does:

This multitasking mascara is formulated with Givenchy’s exclusive lash booster expert complex that provides nutrition, revitalization, fortification, and protection.

What do I think?

This is an excellent all-purpose mascara that lengthens, thickens, separates, lifts, and leaves lashes with a surprisingly long-lasting, though not overdone, curl.

The unique brush resembles three small, spiked balls spaced slightly apart. Although it looks strange, this configuration and shape is easy to use, allowing you to be surprisingly nimble, even with hard-to-reach inner corner lashes.

I love the clump-free, long lash effect I can achieve from this mascara. It doesn’t budge either, even in the crazy humid Dubai weather!

Is it worth the price – AED 170?

I would say yes. I have thoroughly enjoyed using this and would definitely repurchase!

Givenchy Le Rouge Lipstick

What is it?

An object of desire in pure leather for intense lips.  Encased in an elegant silver and leather tube, Le Rouge is rich with luxe pigments that coat the lips with radiant, lasting colour with a single stroke.  The lightweight, ultra-smooth, non-sticky texture glides on to softly shape and contour the lips beautifully.

What do I think?

The shade of this is a little too pinky for me. The quality of the lipstick is a joy to use though. Long lasting, nourishing, highly pigmented… really lovely! I only wish I loved the shade. I did give this to a friend who LOVES it, definitely suits her much more than me!

Here I wore it by softening it with my finger!

Screenshot 2015-09-03 11.00.49

Is it worth the price – AED 170?

Yes. There are so many gorgeous shades that I have already got my eye on one that will suit me. I will definitely be picking another one up!
